Dirty Cop #2 - Steve McCuaig, Port Moody Police
Private Report – Allegations of Corruption and Misconduct (Continuation)
Prepared for: Authorized Government and Oversight Officials
Date: January 27, 2026
Subject: Allegations involving Major Crimes Detective Steve McCuaig, Port Moody Police Department
Overview
This section details allegations of corruption, criminal conduct, and abuse of authority involving Detective Steve McCuaig, a member of the Major Crimes Unit of the Port Moody Police Department. The allegations are linked to ongoing concerns regarding the relationship between Port Moody Police officials and StrataCo Property Management.
Key Allegations
Collusion with StrataCo Property Management:
Detective McCuaig is alleged to have acted on behalf of StrataCo against homeowners, disregarding rights guaranteed under BC’s civic and federal laws.
Attempted Assassination:
He allegedly attempted to cause fatal harm to a targeted homeowner and whistleblower. The incident was reportedly witnessed, documented, and reported to medical professionals.
Suppression of Complaints:
Repeatedly refused to process or accept citizen complaints against strata corporations and property management figures, specifically those involving stalking, fraud, and intimidation.
Threats and Extortion:
Used his personal phone to threaten a citizen and unlawfully revoked access to civic facilities under threat of injury or fabricated criminal charges (recorded call). Statements attributed to him include claims that he “makes the laws in Port Moody.”
Accessory to Extortion:
Allegedly engaged in coordination with other individuals to enforce or protect corrupt practices tied to property management operations.
Oversight and Accountability Failures
Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner (OPCC):
A formal complaint was filed with the OPCC concerning McCuaig’s conduct. To date, no official response or action has been taken. There are allegations that this complaint was ignored, mishandled, or removed from official records.
Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC):
Similar to the previous case, complaints appear to have been submitted to the OIPC but show no publicly verifiable record of investigation, acknowledgment, or outcome.
Transparency Concerns:
Ongoing suspicion persists that citizen complaints to the Port Moody Police Department are being deleted or disregarded, preventing lawful investigation and public accountability.
Pattern and Context
The allegations against Detective McCuaig mirror those previously reported in connection with Inspector Ken MacDonald, suggesting a coordinated pattern of corruption within the department. Both officers are alleged to obstruct accountability processes, protect external private interests (i.e., StrataCo), and retaliate against complainants to silence whistleblowers.
Reports also indicate parallel misconduct in administrative handling of housing-related complaints and financial irregularities tied to StrataCo’s management practices.
Recommendation
Given the serious nature of allegations including attempted homicide, extortion, and obstruction of justice, it is recommended that:
Independent federal investigation be initiated outside of Port Moody’s jurisdiction.
Comprehensive review of complaint logs be conducted by OPCC auditors to determine if complaint deletions or record tampering occurred.
Witnesses and medical documentation linked to the alleged assassination attempt be secured for evidentiary preservation.
Protective measures be extended to complainants and witnesses involved in this case.
